The Supreme Court has refused to halt the controversial survey of the Gyanvapi Masjid premises in Varanasi, which aims to determine if the 17th-century mosque was built on a pre-existing temple. The court observed that it cannot find fault with the district court's order and would not interfere with every interlocutory direction in the case. The survey, conducted by the Archaeological Survey of India, began on Friday morning. The court stated that there are adequate safeguards in place to protect the structure during the survey.
