Manipur phone line to combat misinformation, extends internet ban till May 20

Manipur’s government has launched a phone number for citizens to report misinformation and rumours in the state, which has seen 71 people killed and over 1,700 homes burned in ethnic tensions between the Meiteis majority and tribal Kukis. Authorities have extended the ban on internet services across the state for another five days to stop the “spread of disinformation and false rumours”.
