Extreme weather conditions, including flooding, heavy rain, waterlogging, and heatwaves, have affected various parts of India due to the impact of the climate crisis. The monsoon has arrived only in some parts of southern and northeastern India, with a nearly 90% rainfall deficit in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Odisha. Experts attribute the unusual weather to the overall warming of the planet, with the frequency of cyclones also on the rise. The sluggish monsoon and extreme weather have also slowed the planting of key summer-sown crops, which account for half of India?s annual food output.
